AetherNet

Post-Quantum Crypto Custody Infrastructure

Full Concept

A proposed protocol layer for post-quantum secure crypto custody, designed for institutions and RIAs managing digital assets as quantum computing threatens current encryption standards. Positioned as a Fireblocks competitor for the post-quantum era, entered via a SaaS compliance wedge.

The Threat

The cryptographic foundations of current blockchain infrastructure (ECDSA signatures, SHA-256 hashing) are vulnerable to sufficiently powerful quantum computers. NIST has already published post-quantum cryptographic standards. The institutions that hold the most crypto assets (exchanges, custodians, RIAs, hedge funds) are almost entirely unprepared for this transition.

AetherNet is the custody infrastructure designed for what comes after.

The Architecture

Post-quantum encryption: All key management, transaction signing, and communication uses NIST-standardized post-quantum algorithms rather than the ECDSA/RSA schemes that quantum computing will eventually break. Zero-knowledge access control: Custody permissions are enforced through ZK proofs. Institutions can verify authorization without exposing the underlying keys or authorization logic. Non-custodial vaults: clients retain cryptographic control of their assets while AetherNet provides the security infrastructure and compliance tooling around them. Compliance-native design: built-in regulatory reporting, audit trails, and documentation generation for the institutional and RIA market.

The Go-To-Market Strategy

The full protocol is a multi-year build. The entry point is direct outreach to institutions already managing significant crypto allocations and facing regulatory pressure: Registered Investment Advisors with crypto-heavy client books, family offices making direct digital asset allocations, and sovereign wealth funds beginning to explore blockchain-based settlement infrastructure.

These institutions have the most to lose from a quantum computing breach and the most to gain from a compliance-native custody layer. The sales motion is consultative: help them understand the post-quantum threat timeline, then position AetherNet as the infrastructure that survives it. Revenue from early institutional clients funds the deeper protocol build.

The Market Timing

Quantum computing timelines are debated, but the direction is not. IBM, Google, and government programs are all advancing toward cryptographically relevant quantum computers. The institutions that begin the post-quantum transition early will have a significant advantage, and the vendors that serve them during that transition will own a critical piece of financial infrastructure.
